Clothing launch comes as 200th Argos opens in a Sainsbury’s supermarket
Sainsbury’s announces that its popular Tu clothing range for men, women and children will soon be available from Argos. From 25th April customers can order Tu clothing online by 2pm for next day home delivery or free Click & Collect from 1,100 Sainsbury’s and Argos stores across the country*. There will be no minimum order size and returns will be free at any Argos and Sainsbury’s location. Tu clothing contributes close to £1 billion of annual sales to the Group and by offering customers the convenience to buy and collect the full ranges at Argos, Sainsbury’s aims to accelerate its clothing growth and give customers more reasons to shop at Argos and Sainsbury’s.
Argos’s website is now the third most visited retail website in the UK, with 60% of sales originating online. Argos has developed a new ‘look and feel’ for shopping Tu on its website tailored to the fashion experience and the website will give customers immediate information on availability.
Sainsbury’s, which has been rapidly rolling out the benefits to customers of its Argos purchase 18 months ago, is also pleased to announce that the 200th Argos store in a Sainsbury’s supermarket will open tomorrow (28 March) in Pimlico, London. As well as creating significant synergies and utilising store space efficiently, the introduction of an Argos store in a Sainsbury’s supermarket has proved extremely popular with customers, increasing footfall and boosting sales in the supermarket overall.
The Argos store in Sainsbury’s Pimlico will have 14,000 products available on site. Customers can also access close to 50,000 products online and if they order before 1pm they can collect by 4pm the same day. The company has said it will open 250 Argos stores in Sainsbury’s supermarkets by March 2019.
Mike Coupe, Group Chief Executive of Sainsbury’s, said: “We know that customers are increasingly shopping for clothes online and that they love the convenience of being able to collect them from a store. When we bought Argos we always knew that we wanted to enable customers to buy Tu clothing from Argos so this is a major milestone for us. We hope Argos customers embrace the Tu range in the way that Sainsbury’s customers have over the past ten years.”
