  • Five Ben & Jerry’s and Carte D’or in-store parlours will trial premium ice cream-to-go
  • Customers can conveniently pick up their favourite flavours & create hand-packed pints
  • Ice cream parlours add to Sainsbury’s portfolio of innovative in-store food partnerships

Sainsbury’s has whipped up another exciting in-store experience for customers looking to keep cool this summer. Working with Unilever, the supermarket has launched five in-store ice cream parlours, offering customers their favourite premium ice cream brands-to-go.

The trial is the first time in-store ice cream parlours have opened in a UK supermarket and demonstrates Sainsbury’s commitment to offer customers a distinct and differentiated choice of quality food for every occasion.

London customers in Balham, Wandsworth and Clapham Common can now quickly and conveniently scoop up some Ben & Jerry’s, while shoppers in Bishop Stortford and Walton-on-Thames can dig in to Carte D’or. Customers can create their own ice cream combinations, with a range of flavours, toppings and sauces available.

The Ben & Jerry’s parlours will also offer Sainsbury’s shoppers some new and scoop-only flavours, including Cherry Garcia and Double Caramel Brownie. Ben and Jerry’s prices start from £3 for one scoop to £6.50 for a hand-packed pint of ice cream, where customers can create their own tub using up to four flavours. Carte D’or prices start from £2.50 for one scoop in a sugar cone to £4.25 for a waffle with ice cream and topping / sauce.

The in-store ice cream parlours further strengthen Sainsbury’s mission to innovate in its stores to bring customers a wide and convenient choice of quality products and premium brands for every occasion. Over the last year, Sainsbury’s has successfully introduced Sushi Gourmet counters, Patisserie Valerie cakes, a Crussh juice counter and a Zizzi pizza counter to its stores.

Nicola Goodall, Sainsbury’s Proposition Manager, said: “When temperatures hot up, we know our customers love nothing more than to cool down with an ice cream. Our in-store Ben & Jerry’s and Carte D’or parlours offer customers the chance to quickly and conveniently pop in and pick up a scoop – or pint! – of ice cream to enjoy. Whatever the weather and whatever the occasion, Sainsbury’s customers can find everything they need in our stores.”
