Courgetti: the next store cupboard staple?

Courgetti: the next store cupboard staple?

09 June 2016

Sainsbury’s is excited to announce the launch of the first dried courgetti to the UK market. Building on the success of sales of courgettes (+30% yoy in Sainsbury’s) and the newly launched line of fresh courgetti, comes this latest offering from UniqueItalia, which launches to Sainsbury’s stores this week.

Made with Italian courgettes grown in the planes of Puglia in southern Italy, this courgetti is cut and dried on the same day to lock in the natural goodness, colour and flavour (and contains no artificial preservatives). Refreshed in boiling water in just five minutes, UniqueItalia’s Courgetti Nests are a delicious and healthy store-cupboard alternative to spaghetti and dried pasta. Truly versatile, they can be drizzled with olive oil and eaten as a side dish or used in any recipe for spaghetti or courgetti like a basil pesto or a fresh tomato passata. They can also be used like noodles in a broth with some Thai curry paste, coconut milk and coriander or stir-fried with garlic, ginger and soy sauce.

Lucy McCarthy, Buyer at Sainsbury’s adds: “Both whole courgettes and our new fresh courgetti are really popular amoungst our customers so we’re excited to be launching UniqueItalia’s new dried Courgetti Nests to our stores. They’re really convenient to prepare and make a great store-cupboard alternative for spaghetti or noodles - we can’t wait to hear what customer feedback is.”
