We have been awarded the Accessible Company of the Year 2015 by national disability charity, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. The awards ceremony took place on November 4th at the prestigious One Marylebone in Central London.
This year, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People highlighted that 70% of deaf people with a hearing dog have been refused access on the UK high street. We were praised by hearing dog recipients for ‘excellent use of signage’ and for being ‘welcoming and helpful’. This was the first year the category was introduced to the awards.

Tim Fallowfield, Company Secretary & Corporate Services Director and Sainsbury’s Board Sponsor lead for disability and carers, said: “It’s an honour to be recognised by Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and their users. Millions of customers come through our doors each week so it’s really important our colleagues are able to meet our customers’ needs. We provide disability awareness training to all new colleagues, and we’re always happy to help our customers with assistance dogs, whether providing a bowl of water or helping with shopping.”
