The return to Chase Lane primary school marks his first steps through the gates since he left 30 years ago. To the audience of 180 10 year olds, David Beckham made a surprise appearance at the Friday morning assembly before going on a tour of Chase Lane primary school. He dropped in on classes, met the football team before they head off to Wembley for the national finals and saw how they put their Active Kids equipment to use.
David Beckham, Sainsbury's Active Kids ambassador, said: "Coming back, I've noticed so much has changed but all the memories of my favourite classes and kicking about in the playground has come flooding back. I'm proud to see Chase Lane is so involved in Active Kids and encourage other schools and clubs to take advantage of it.
"It's great to talk to the teachers and children about the importance of leading a healthier lifestyle no matter what age you are."

Chase Lane primary school has been collecting Active Kids vouchers since 2006 and is one of the 51,000 organisations registered to the scheme. On 25th May the school football team, U11s is heading to Wembley to play in the Year 6 National Final.
