Sainsbury’s will be donating 50p to cancer charity Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust for every pair of women’s knickers sold in its stores during Cervical Screening Awareness Week 8 –14 June.
From sultry separates to everyday essentials, Sainsbury’s range of lingerie has something to make every woman feel great by providing the perfect foundation to any outfit. Prices range from £3-£10 and are available in sizes 8 to 22.
Commenting on the collaboration, Aimee Hix, Lingerie Buyer for Sainsbury’s said: “We sell a pair of knickers every three seconds, so together with our customers we can make a huge difference to Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust.
“During Cervical Screening Awareness Week I hope our customers will enjoy treating themselves to new lingerie and feel especially good knowing that they are also supporting a great cause. Whether it’s luxurious lace, polka dot prints, or tiny bows that appeal we have something for every woman.”
Pink (28%) was found to be the nation’s favourite knicker colour followed by blue (23%), with the short lingerie style (83%) the most popular underwear choice for women in the UK, according to Sainsbury’s sales.
Cervical Screening Awareness Week is a UK wide initiative lead by Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust – the only UK charity dedicated to women and their families affected by cervical cancer and cervical abnormalities. The week aims to promote how important it is for women to lower their risk by attending regular cervical screening (smear) appointments.
Robert Music, Chief Executive of Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust comments: “It is great to again be working with Sainsbury’s, which has proved to be a very impactful partnership. Every day in the UK nine women are diagnosed with cervical cancer and three will die from the disease yet 1 in 5 women fail to attend screening annually. Through Sainsbury’s fantastic support we are able to reach many more people to raise awareness of the disease and the importance of screening. We hope Sainsbury’s customers use Cervical Screening Awareness Week as an opportunity to treat themselves to some new underwear and in doing so make a difference to the lives of women affected by cervical cancer and cervical abnormalities.
